Our Beloved Sammy

Sammy came to the Animal Health Center in the Fall of 1993. She belonged to an older woman who was moving into elderly housing and could not bring Sammy with her. Sammy's original owner had tried to find Sammy a new home, but had not been successful, so she requested that Sammy be euthanized. From that day til her passing in July of 2007, Sammy became a very important face around the Animal Health Center. Sammy always greeted clients with a warm meow and a quick lick of whatever form of jewelry you happen to be wearing that day. Sammy had her own fan club. Clients would walk into the office and we would ask if we could help them. They would quickly say that they had just stopped by to say hello to Sammy. Through the years, Sammy developed health issue after health issue, but in the true Sammy spirit, she persevered to live to a ripe old age of 23 years. In the end, Sammy looked old and frail, but she still always managed to jump up on our reception desk to greet another client. It was a sad day for many when Sammy finally gave up the fight to soldier on, but Sammy will live on in our hearts and be a constant reminder that love can conquer all.
